Our Story

We've loved every minute of our journey

Kahmia started her entrepreneurial journey at the age of 19 as a free lance photographer and opened a small studio inside of her aunt’s beauty salon. After a year she took a full time job at the cable company where she acquired sales skills and some leadership experience. In 2005 she joined USAA and became a licensed insurance professional. In 2010 Kahmia relocated to Killeen to assist members face to face in the Fort Hood community. Her knowledge and experience grew greatly. Of all her professional achievements, she is most proud of the work she did in Killeen with USAA. Helping people take care of their financial goals was the most rewarding part of her career. 

An Idea Is Born

“My time in Killeen means the most to me because it grew me personally and professionally. Our financial center had everything from wealth managers and mortgage originators to life insurance and investments advisors, and I took advantage of that. I learned everything I could from them. Whenever I had free time I’d be in the office with our wealth managers or mortgage originators asking questions. By this time I was an insurance and banking expert myself, so I was able to I understand my member’s needs first and find solutions based on their goals. If there was something that I couldn’t help them with and my colleagues could, I’d refer them over. Whenever someone would come back and talk about the progress they’d made and how we helped turn their financial situation around I was proud. It felt amazing to be a part of that. That is something I carry with me everyday, and it is the foundation of why Growing Money Game LLC was created.”

Our First Employee

In 2015 Kahmia took a promotion as a risk and compliance advisor which lead her back to San Antonio. There she performed bank and compliance audits for the financial centers across the US and at one point had as many as 21 centers to audit. Although she loved the corporate world her dream was to own her own food establishment, and in December of 2016 Kahmia’s dreams to become a food truck owner were brought to life. 

“Starting my truck was the most magical thing for me. I knew it could happen, but I still couldn’t believe it was happening. It was a dream come true. I’m still in shock,” she laughed “because none of my family told me not to. They all believed it would work, and it did.” 

"We did The Mardi Gras Festival, The Big Red and Barbarcoa Festival, my apartment complex hosted my food truck monthly. It was a lot, but we had fun. It got so big that I was turning down invitations to festivals. That was humbling. I didn't think it would be that big that quickly."

"I had prepared myself for the failures, but I had not prepared for this amount of success...at all. I needed to figure out how to grow with it, but I also had a full time job."  

Being torn between a full time job and the food truck, she realized she’d have to put the food truck on hold for the time, so in 2019 she did. 

“Closing the truck was the right thing to do at that time. I was working so much and getting catering jobs and other private events because of the food truck. It was exhausting. The experience I got as a business owner was phenomenal, and more importantly I got the taste of freedom that came from being my own boss. I knew it was only a matter of time before I would walk away from my job.”

For the next year she made it her mission to learn what it meant to be an entrepreneur while still working in Risk Mitigation at her bank. Her time in risk gave her an in depth look at how banks and investment companies are governed, how they make money, and how they benefit their customers. It wasn’t until March of 2020 when the light bulb went off.

Game Changer

“I learned to trade in the stock market, and I was so excited because I was making money, and I also understood how to do it. Then all the years talking to my colleagues that are wealth managers started to make sense before my eyes. I was beyond excited! This wasn't a game changer for me. A few weeks later we were asked to update our skills and everything jumped off the paper at me. I knew the game on finances. “Checking, savings, CD’s, credit cards, auto loans, credit building, home insurance, auto insurance, renters insurance and now investing and trading. “I’m a whole business” were my exact words.I knew then it was time to walk away. Those years spent helping people become financially stable were my favorite and more than anything that’s what matters to me. I love to help people and teach. Now I do that in a way that makes for me and benefits my clients. I know a lot of the inside tips to help them get ahead financially, and the ways to protect their money and assets the way banks and businesses protect theirs. I know the game, and I’m here to give it to you.”
